This weekend we celebrate Father’s Day! And for me, I can’t help but look back on happy memories while making sure to enjoy “the moment” with my own kiddos.
Looking Back
As a kid I grew up on a small farm in Michigan. I have countless memories of my father and I spending hours outside enjoying nature. Everything from playing sports in the yard to tending to our garden to getting up early to tackle our chores together. Most of it was great, although clearing the tomato worms wasn’t necessarily my favorite task as a youngster!
I can even remember planting small apple trees and watching them grow over the years, maturing and strengthening just like my own relationship with my father.
The beauty and simplicity of nature is truly powerful and can’t be overstated. It has the ability to create a bond that acts like a glue for your whole family.
Celebrating Today
We’re wishing all the Dads out there a wonderful Father’s Day. I’m planning to enjoy every moment with my four (4) children. Here are just a few ideas for how you can get outside and enjoy the day together:
- Cook up some of your best BBQ fare and eat like there is no tomorrow!
- Make a batch of homemade Lemonade & Iced Tea offering up a toast to the great Arnold Palmer (rocking chair encouraged while sipping)!
- Get dirty together; install a new flower bed or plant something and watch it grow (I just did this with some of my kids recently – check out the pics)!
- Introduce your kids to technology and show them how it can happily coexist with the real world; that’s right, it might be fun to design your dream Outdoor Living space together using iScape!
From our entire team, here’s to wishing you a Happy Father’s Day!
Most Sincerely,
Jon Dean
